Finn Allen ruled out of MLC and Zimbabwe series following a foot injury sustained while playing for Unicorns.
After suffering a foot injury while playing for the San Francisco Unicorns in the MLC, opener Finn Allen will not be participating in New Zealand’s forthcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, which is scheduled to start on July 14. He will therefore also be unable to attend the MLC playoffs, where the Unicorns will meet MI New York in the Eliminator on Wednesday.
Allen’s recuperation schedule will be decided after he returns to New Zealand and has had additional professional consultations, according to a NZC release. Unicorns have chosen not to designate a replacement player for the tri-series, while New Zealand will do so when the time is right.
Allen last appeared in the July 6 league game between the Unicorns and the Los Angeles Knight Riders at Lauderhill. In the opening over of the 244 chase, he was out for four. With 333 runs in nine games, including a game-high 151 against the Washington Freedom in Oakland, he is the second-highest run scorer for the Unicorns.
West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who has returned to Guyana to play for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League, will also be missed by Unicorns. Shepherd has taken eight wickets in five innings, making him a vital wicket-taker for Unicorns. He has also made contributions with the bat. Unicorns have also chosen not to nominate a successor for him.
