Foden and Grealish uncomfortable after Derby incident, says Pep in his press conference when asked about them.
Foden and Grealish do not “feel good” after incidents involving fans at the Manchester derby.
Instead than blaming Manchester United, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Phil Foden and Jack Grealish do not “feel good” following incidents with fans at the Manchester derby. He believes the issue is social.
Grealish was allegedly hit as he entered the Old Trafford tunnel after Sunday’s 0-0 draw, leading to a 20-year-old man being charged with assault earlier this week.
During the first half, fellow England player Foden also had to cope with insulting remarks made about his mother by United supporters, which Guardiola later described as displaying “a lack of class.”
Asked how Grealish and Foden were feeling, Guardiola said: “He doesn’t feel good but we move forward.
“It’s a crazy world. Nobody is away from that.
“It’s not about United, it’s not a problem of a specific club or department in world football. It’s beyond that person. It happens everywhere.”
Due to an ankle injury he sustained at Old Trafford, Foden will not play in City’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday (12:30 BST).
Erling Haaland, Rodri, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake all still sidelined for City, who are sixth in the standings.
