has sadly passed away at the age of 80 due to illness, as announced by The
Football Association of England on its official website. Venables, a renowned
English coach, had an illustrious career in coaching. After retiring as a
player, he embarked on his coaching journey, leading the England national team
to the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championship. He also had stints as the
coach of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and Barcelona in La Liga.
During his tenure, Tottenham secured an FA Cup victory, while Barcelona
clinched a La Liga title. Venables had been battling injuries in recent years,
spending a significant amount of time shuttling between home and the hospital.
His family has stated that he passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness.
Tottenham, a club he once coached, have released a commemorative statement
expressing their condolences. They have announced that they will wear black
armbands during their Premier League match against Aston Villa and observe a
minute’s silence to honor the memory of this esteemed coach.
