Ganguly to become CAB President once again while also holding posts with the Delhi Capitals teams in the T20 franchise circuit.
Ganguly set to take charge as Cricket Association of Bengal president again.
Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India and president of the BCCI, has nominated himself for the position of president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). When the CAB elections are place on September 22, he is anticipated to succeed his older brother Snehasish Ganguly, as no other nominations have been submitted.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support,” Ganguly said in a CAB statement on Sunday. “At CAB, there is no opposition. Everyone is a part of this association. We will all work together to take CAB and Bengal cricket ahead.
“There are important events coming up – Eden Gardens’ India’s Test match against South Africa, [matches of the men’s] T20 World Cup, Bengal Pro T20 League. I will try and do my best.”
Before taking up the role of president of the BCCI from 2019 to 2022, Ganguly held the same position from 2015 to 2019. He has since played for a few of clubs in the T20 franchise circuit.
According to a recent update, Ganguly assumed leadership of the Pretoria Capitals for the fourth SA20 season. Last week, he also attended the SA20 sale. He has coached the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL (in 2019), but this is his first time serving as head coach of a T20 franchise.
He worked closely with the Delhi Capitals team in the WPL before being named director of cricket at JSW Sports, which co-owns the Delhi Capitals franchises worldwide, last year. The impact of his employment at CAB on his mentoring and coaching responsibilities is unknown.
