Georgia Plimmer’s 2024 comes to an end for New Zealand women due to injury as she will miss the series against Australia.
Georgia Plimmer’s 2024 has come to an end. Due to a bone stress reaction in her groin, she will not be playing cricket for the rest of the year. She will miss the December home ODI series against Australia due to the injury.
During the last ODI series in India last month, Plimmer reported having pain in her left hip joint, according to a New Zealand Cricket statement. The injury was confirmed by a follow-up MRI and evaluation by a specialist after returning to New Zealand. It is anticipated that she will need to recuperate for six weeks before gradually resumed high-speed jogging in January.
Plimmer will also miss the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield and the Super Smash domestic events in addition to the Australia ODIs.
“We’re really gutted for this to happen to Georgia when she’s at the top of her game,” Ben Sawyer, New Zealand women’s head coach, said.
“She’s certainly a loss for us heading into an important series against Australia. After her recent success at the World Cup and in India it’s disappointing she won’t be able to continue that form for the Wellington Blaze and against Australia next month. Georgia’s determined to rehab well and get back as soon as she can and we’re wishing her a smooth recovery.”
With 150 runs in six innings during their successful 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, Plimmer was New Zealand’s second-highest run scorer. In the ensuing ODI series against India, which New Zealand lost 2-1, she also scored 25, 41, and 39 runs.
