Gold Coast ready as unbeatable series lead is on the agenda for both India as well as Australia come tomorrow.
Unbeatable series lead on the line in rare Gold Coast fixture.
It’s rare for an India series to be overlooked, but this T20I series isn’t the main topic of conversation in many Australian cricket circles, at least, even if it’s very important to the players. The Ashes team faltered the day before the fourth game, with the series tied at one, and it will probably be picked over in the coming days.
With the releases of Sean Abbott and Travis Head, Australia’s lineup for this series has even fewer connections to the forthcoming Ashes. The only person still involved in Perth is Josh Inglis, who will quickly transition into Sheffield Shield cricket following the conclusion of the series.
In Hobart, India did a fantastic job of levelling the series. Their incredible batting depth in T20 cricket was demonstrated during the chase. Tilak Varma was the only player with a strike-rate below 125. Washington Sundar, who was playing in his first game of the series, used some strong strokeplay to end the match quickly, and Jitesh Sharma, who had just joined the team, played confidently.
Australia’s T20 preparations could be significantly altered by Tim David’s outstanding batting performance, which was a continuation of his developing role higher up the order. But after losing Mitch Marsh and Mitch Owen in back-to-back deliveries against Varun Chakravarthy, the home team was unable to fully bounce back.
Australia’s intense run in the format comes to a close with the final two games of this T20 series, which were played on Thursday and Saturday. Although BBL form may still be a factor, they are the final group before the selectors must name a T20 World Cup squad.
