Graeme Cremer finds place in Zimbabwe’s T20 World Cup side as Muzarabani returns after missing the tri-series in Pakistan.
Graeme Cremer named in Zimbabwe’s squad for T20 World Cup 2026.
Zimbabwe’s 15-man roster for the 2026 T20 World Cup includes former captain Graeme Cremer, who made his comeback to international cricket in October after a seven-year break. During the tri-series in Pakistan, the 39-year-old legspinner made a comeback, scoring 2 for 44 from seven overs in two games.
A blessing Muzarabani is also returned after missing the tri-series due to a back issue. The only member of that team left out is left-arm seamer Newman Nyamhuri.
Sean Williams’ replacement for the Africa region qualifier, Clive Madande, kept his spot. With 152 runs in four games at an average of 76.00 and a strike rate of 138.18, he was the leading scorer in Zimbabwe’s domestic tournament.
The team, which includes veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor and Test and ODI captain Richard Ngarava, will be led by Sikandar Raza. Taylor returned earlier this year, just like Cremer. He has since participated in 13 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 251 runs at a strike rate of 144.25 and an average of 22.81. But against Botswana, 123 of those were scored in a single innings. His average and strike rate decrease to 12.80 and 106.66, respectively, if that knock is excluded.
The seam attack would be led by Muzarabani and Ngarava. Other than Cremer, Wellington Masakadza is another seasoned name in the spin department.
Group B includes Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Oman, and Zimbabwe. They will play all of their group games in Sri Lanka and begin their campaign on February 9 against Oman.
