Guardiola coy on his prospects of becoming England manager as the FA continue their search for the new boss.
Guardiola keeps cards close to his chest as the whispers surrounding links to the England job grow on.
After taking over at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Guardiola has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League. However, his contract expires at the end of the current season.
The 53-year-old recently emphasised how “deep” his affection for the team is and that he hasn’t ruled out signing an extension. However, despite rumours that he may take over as permanent England manager after Gareth Southgate, he hasn’t made any firm decisions yet.
“Leaving City? It’s not true, I haven’t decided yet,” Guardiola said when asked about his future on Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, as reported by Sky Italia. “And it is not even true that I will be the next England coach. If I had decided I would say it … I don’t know either, anything can happen.”
ITV pundit Keane feels that England should wait and see if Guardiola is a good fit. After Finland defeated England 3-1 in the Nations League in Helsinki under the temporary manager Lee Carsley, Keane declared, “The FA have to go for the best guy, whatever.” Strive for excellence. Pep’s deal expires in the summer.
