[Saba Sports News] The Champions League group stage is
set to resume in the middle of this week, with Manchester City, a Premier
League team, traveling to Germany to face Bundesliga side Leipzig. According to
reports from German media, Leipzig, the former club of Manchester City player
Josko Gvardiol, had planned to hold a pre-match tribute ceremony in honour of
their former player. The ceremony would have included the presentation of a
bronze bull statue to Gvardiol. However, Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola
declined the proposal, as he did not want his players to be distracted ahead of
the crucial game. Gvardiol had an impressive two-season stint with Leipzig in
the Bundesliga, as well as a notable performance in the Qatar World Cup. He announced
his move to Manchester City during the summer, commanding a transfer fee of 90
million euros, setting a record for a defender transfer fee.
