Harry Kane an injury doubt for Bayern’s next CL fixture after injury in their draw against Bayer Leverkusen.
Harry Kane is in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of UCL match week 2 after an injury vs Bayer Leverkusen.
Kane, who did not have a shot against Leverkusen, was injured in a collision late in the match at the Allianz Arena. He was grimacing in pain when taken off at the end of the game.
The game was a stalemate at 1-1 after Aleksandar Pavlovic canceled Robert Andrich’s long-range strike in the first half.
With Kane scoring four goals in Bayern’s opening 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, the team is also unbeaten under the new format. Villa are fourth on the table.
“I’m not a doctor, but I hope it’s nothing serious. It’s still early to say. Hoping he will be fit for Wednesday,” Kompany told Sky Sports. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl was not optimistic, saying the injury “doesn’t look good” for Kane, who leads the Bundesliga scoring charts and has 10 goals in all competitions this season. “If Harry goes off the pitch, then it’s something,” Eberl spoke. “Now I hope he is made of sturdy English wood.”
Kompany still saw positives from the game despite being uder the cosh by the champions’ press.
“As a Bayern coach, you always want to win. But the performance was as we’d hoped. The counter-pressing was positive, we won the second balls, we created so many chances,” the Belgian coach said. “Normally in such a game, you don’t create many chances, but we did. It was a top game but there are still many games to go. The team just have to keep going.”
“We deserve more because clearly the better team,” Neuer told Sky Germany. “We had the better chances. The goal we conceded was very annoying.”
