Harry Kane makes history by breaking THIS Bundesliga record in their most recent league match against FC Augsburg.
Harry Kane makes his own little slice of history in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over FC Augsburg.
With a hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 victory over Augsburg, Kane created history by scoring 50 goals in the Bundesliga at the quickest speed ever.
The England captain needed to score three goals to reach the milestone, and he added two more in injury time after netting the first goal with a penalty in the 63rd minute.
Just before full time, Kane headed in his third goal following an incredible first touch to control the ball, and his second goal also came from the penalty spot when he was fouled by Keven Schlotterbeck, who was sent off for a second yellow card.
Erling Haaland’s record of 50 goals in 50 games for Borussia Dortmund, prior to the Norwegian joining Manchester City, was beaten by him with the 50 goals in 43 Bundesliga games.
With nine victories and two draws from their 11 games, the German powerhouses are still undefeated in the league. The victory also put Bayern eight points ahead of Leipzig at the top of the league heading into the weekend’s games.
“We knew it would be difficult to break them down. We knew we had to be patient,” Kane told DAZN.
“At half-time that’s what we said, ‘we just have to keep doing what we’re doing’. Thankfully we got the penalty to open the game up and then did well to kill the game off.”
With 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, Kane is already setting a new record.
In September, he scored four goals in the Champions League’s 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 30 goals in 45 games to become the greatest English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history.
Additionally, Kane made history by becoming the first player from England to score four goals in a Champions League match.
