ICC announce test rankings which sees Kagiso Rabada surpass Josh Hazlewood, R Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah to take the top spot in the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings.
After being the fastest player to reach 300 Test wickets with three wickets in Bangladesh’s opening innings, Rabada delivered figures of 6 for 46 as South Africa won their first Test in Asia since 2014.
Both Ashwin and Bumrah performed poorly in India’s loss to New Zealand in Pune, and they both fell behind Hazlewood to third and fourth place in the most recent rankings, respectively.
After taking nine wickets in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali also made a significant leap, climbing nine spots to ninth position. He has never made it into the top ten of the Test bowlers’ rankings before.
In the meantime, Saud Shakeel and Rachin Ravindra made their debut appearances in the top ten of the Test batting charts. Shakeel jumped 20 places to seventh rank after his 134 against England, while Ravindra, who backed up his century in Bengaluru with a half-century in Pune, rose eight spaces to tenth.
After scoring 30 and 77 in Pune, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who momentarily fell behind Harry Brook, has risen back to third place.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who made a battling 97 in Bangladesh’s second innings in Mirpur, and claimed two wickets, moved up two slots to go third in the allrounder charts.
