[Saba Sports News] Imad Wasim’s retirement from international cricket took fans and the cricket world by surprise. Rashid Latif, a former cricketer, voiced his astonishment on X (previously known as Twitter), urging Imad to rethink his decision and return to the Pakistan team. Despite his strong performance in the Caribbean Premier League, Imad was excluded from Pakistan’s ODI World Cup squad in favor of Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz, a move that reportedly upset him.
Latif highlighted Imad as Pakistan’s leading spinner and a valuable batsman. He also mentioned Mohammad Hafeez, the new director of cricket, who wants Imad involved in the team’s future plans.
Latif believes Imad’s absence would be detrimental to the Pakistan team and suggested that Imad should remain available for national selection even if he plays in leagues.
Imad has a notable record of 121 international matches, 109 wickets, and 1472 runs in white-ball cricket. He expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) amidst the team’s leadership changes, with Babar Azam stepping down and new captaincy roles for Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood.
