India to lock horns with Pakistan in U19 World Cup Super Six stage as they will also face Zimbabwe in this round.
Five-time champions India are now in first place in Group B after winning the Under-19 World Cup group stage for the third time in a row. The Super Six stage match between India and Pakistan is set for February 1 in Bulawayo.
According to the World Cup regulations, the three teams from the groups that advance to the Super Sixes play two games against the teams whose group stage ranking differed from their own, using the points they have gained against their fellow Super Sixes teams. For instance, A1 will play D2 and D3 but not D1. Groups B and C are in one Super Sixes group, while Groups A and D are in the other.
India came in at B1, Pakistan at C2, and England at the top of that group. On January 27 in Bulawayo, India will play Zimbabwe (C3) in the Super Sixes. On the same day, Pakistan will play their other Super Sixes match in Harare versus New Zealand.
India began their campaign with a convincing victory over the USA, knocking them out for 107 and then surpassing the DLS-revised mark with six wickets and 118 balls in hand. It has been an impressive run.
Bangladesh came next, and things became a little more competitive. India received a score of 238. Bangladesh was bowled out after reaching within 18 runs of their revised target of 165 in 29 overs. In a 37-over, rain-shortened match on Saturday, India dismissed New Zealand for 135 and, with seven wickets remaining, scored the revised goal of 130 in 13.3 overs.
Pakistan, on the other hand, stopped at 174 after England had scored 210, losing their opening game versus England by 36 runs. That was followed by the two victories. Zimbabwe lost by eight wickets and Scotland by six.
