India women to play 5T20i’s against Sri Lanka before the WPL, acting as preparation for the T20 World Cup next year.
India Women to host Sri Lanka for five women’s T20Is in December.
Before the WPL begins in January 2026, India and Sri Lanka will play a five-match Twenty20 International series in India during the second half of December. The first two games of the series will take place in Visakhapatnam, while the final three will take place in Thiruvananthapuram. The series will run from December 21 to December 30.
Despite the fact that none of the five WPL teams include a player from Sri Lanka, the WPL will begin on January 9 in Navi Mumbai and then go to Vadodara for the second half.
This bilateral series is scheduled shortly after the white-ball series between Bangladesh and India, which was originally scheduled to take place in India in December, was postponed earlier this month. Three ODIs and three T20Is were scheduled for that series.
The five Twenty20 Internationals between India and Sri Lanka will serve as a prelude to the T20 World Cup, which will take place in England starting on June 12 of next year. The ODI World Cup start on September 30 was the last time the two teams have faced off in any format, and their last Twenty20 International took place at the T20 World Cup in October 2024.
An all-format tour of Australia in February and March will be India’s next series following the WPL.
