[Saba Sports News] Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been delivering exceptional performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup, responded strongly to Pakistani journalists who accused India of unfair play during the tournament.
Shami expressed his thoughts on the matter through his recent Instagram story, where he urged them to focus on the game and take pride in the achievements of others. He reminded them that the ICC event is a global competition, not a local tournament, and even cited the endorsement of their own former player, Wasim Akram, to bolster his argument. Shami also advised them to trust their own cricketing legend, Wasim Akram, and suggested that they had been too self-absorbed in their own praise, akin to self-congratulation.
Currently, India is leading the points table, and under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, they have dominated every opponent, securing their spot at the top of the table and becoming the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
Mohammed Shami has played a significant role in India’s successful journey to the semi-finals, amassing an impressive tally of 16 wickets in just four matches. Additionally, the stellar performances of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been instrumental in India’s success, with Kohli accumulating 543 runs in eight matches and Rohit Sharma notching up 442 runs in the same number of games. Both batsmen have risen to the occasion, propelling India towards their goal of winning their first ICC trophy in 13 years.
India’s final group-stage match is scheduled for November 12th against the Netherlands, and cricket fans, including Virat Kohli, are hopeful for Kohli’s 50th ODI century, which would surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in 50-over cricket.
In addition to India, South Africa has also secured a place in the semi-finals following an impressive campaign. However, India previously defeated South Africa by a significant margin of 243 runs when the two teams faced off in the 37th match of the tournament.
