[Saba Sports News] India’s Neeraj Chopra secured a gold medal in the men’s Javelin Throw at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, with a season-best throw of 88.88m. His compatriot, Kishor Kumar Jena, won the silver medal with a fantastic throw of 86.77m.
During the competition, Kishore briefly surpassed Chopra’s best throw but Neeraj regained the lead in his fourth attempt with his season-best performance.
Both Indian athletes faced challenges on their way to medals, including technical failures and questionable decisions by Chinese officials. Chopra had to retake his first throw due to a scoring system failure after achieving a massive distance of around 87-88m in his initial attempt. In his second attempt, he registered a distance of 82.38m.
Additionally, Kishore Jena had his second attempt incorrectly disqualified, but the decision was overturned after an appeal and replays. Despite these challenges, both athletes secured gold and silver medals.
Reactions on Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena’s achievements were widely discussed on social media.
