India is already leading their five-match Twenty20
International series against Australia 2-0 as they start their post-World Cup
campaign on a high note. On Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram, the teams square off
once more in the third Twenty20 International, with the home team aiming to win
three straight games and seal the series.
Thanks to some excellent bowling from India, the
Australians were limited to 191/9 in 20 overs when chasing 236 runs in the
previous encounter. In exceptional form, Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna
claimed three wicket victories. Thanks to half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (52)
and Yashasvi Jaiswal (53), as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad (58), India first scored
234/5 in 20 overs.
India is anticipated to start with the same lineup
from the first match in the third Twenty20 International. The hosts’ opening
pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, both scored half-centuries in the
previous Twenty20 International. In the previous Twenty20 International,
Jaiswal looked fantastic, and he’ll try to give India another strong start in
Guwahati.
Ishan Kishan, a batsman and wicketkeeper who has been
playing well in this series, will go in at number three. The left-hander, who
only appeared in two ODI World Cup games for India, has amassed two
half-centuries in as many games, but he should aim to increase his strike rate
early in his innings. He took a while to warm up in both games.
In the meantime, the team’s skipper, Suryakumar Yadav,
will bat at number four in this series. In the first Twenty20 International, he
came close to hitting a century, but in the second game, he was out for 19.
At number five, Tilak Varma will bat, while at number
six, Rinku Singh will take on the job of finisher. Although it appears that
Axar Patel will replace the all-rounder at number seven, India might be
persuaded to give Washington Sundar a chance. Axar is the most seasoned bowler
in India’s bowling unit and was the team’s choice in the last high-scoring
game. However, considering how much spin Surya has bowled during this series’
powerplay, it would not be a terrible idea to try out Sundar, who is a proven customer
at that juncture with his economical off-spin.
Leg-spinner Ravi Bishonoi is likely to continue as the
lead spinner.
In the fast bowling department, India have an option
in Avesh Khan but looks like the trio of Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and
Prasidh Krishna have done enough to hold on to their spots.
