IPL Auction rumored to be in November this year at a potentially overseas venue according to well-informed reports.
IPL Auction for Season 18 is expected to take place in November, most likely during the third or fourth weekend. (BCCI) has indicated to IPL that the auction will almost certainly be held overseas.
Sources within the IPL have revealed the venue will likely be in the Middle East. Last year’s auction took place in Dubai. And it wouldn’t be surprising if it were held in another Gulf city, Doha or Abu Dhabi for instance.
IPL franchisees have responded cautiously to the news because they have not yet received the retention regulations in advance of the super auction. Several franchise officials are worried about whether they will have enough time to properly prepare for the auction after learning from the BCCI that there may be a delay in the announcement of these regulations.
According to recent reports, the retention guidelines might be revealed by the end of the month, giving the teams two months to complete their auction plans. It is anticipated that the clubs would have until November 15 to announce their retentions.
The IPL and BCCI have long desired to hold the auction abroad. But they were only able to accomplish so in December of 2023. In past seasons, there have been intentions to hold the auction in London at various points, and Istanbul was also being examined as a possible location.
It is known that coaches who assisted Rahul Dravid with the Indian team will land jobs with different IPL teams. Several former coaches have turned down offers to commentate, citing their desire to remain in coaching positions. Munaf Patel, the former India pacer, is also anticipated to accept a coaching position in the IPL this season.
