[Saba Sports News] India stand-in T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav heaped praises on the emerging talent, Rinku Singh, without explicitly naming the legendary figure he compared the latter to. Rinku’s outstanding performance during the second T20I against Matthew Wade’s Australian side in Thiruvananthapuram earned him acclaim from Suryakumar.
India’s batting unit set a formidable total of 235 runs for the loss of four wickets. The top order, led by Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan, laid a strong foundation, and Rinku’s explosive late innings propelled the score even higher, dismantling the Australian bowling line-up.
Coming to bat in the penultimate delivery of the 18th over, Rinku’s blistering cameo of 31 runs off just 9 balls, at a staggering strike rate of 344.44, comprised four fours and two sixes. His fearless approach contributed significantly, setting the highest first innings total in the India versus Australia T20I clashes.
In the post-match presentation, Suryakumar likened Rinku to the legendary former India captain and wicketkeeper-batter, often revered as the world’s best finisher, MS Dhoni without mentioning his name.
“When I saw Rinku come in to bat in the last game, the composure he showed was brilliant. It reminded me of someone,” Suryakumar alluded to the uncanny similarity between Rinku and Dhoni’s finishing prowess.
When questioned about who Rinku reminded him of, Suryakumar playfully replied, “Everyone knows the answer.”
India secured a convincing 44-run victory in the second T20I by restricting the visiting team to 191 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi starred with the ball, taking three wickets each. With a commanding 2-0 lead in the five-match series, India will feature in the next encounter, which is scheduled in Guwahati on November 28.
