Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis are fit to return for the latter stages of the forthcoming T20I series against India, while young WA quick Mahli Beardman has also been called up for the T20Is. New South Wales all-rounder Jack Edwards has been called into his first international squad after being added to Australia’s ODI side for the final match in Sydney.
In order to prepare for Queensland’s Sheffield Shield match against NSW, which begins on Tuesday at the Gabba, Marnus Labuschagne was removed from the ODI squad ahead of the last match in Sydney on Saturday, according to a number of alterations to the two white-ball teams confirmed by Cricket Australia on Friday.
In order to participate in NSW’s round four Shield match against Victoria, which begins at the SCG on November 10, Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott will both miss the latter stages of the T20I series against India. Abbott, who is recuperating from split webbing in his hand, will depart Australia’s squad following the third Twenty20 International in Hobart, while Hazlewood will only participate in the first two Twenty20 Internationals.
For the third match, Edwards and Matthew Kuhnemann, who participated in the first ODI against India in Perth but was left out of the second when Adam Zampa returned, were called up to the team. Josh Philippe was added to the T20I team as the backup wicketkeeper. He also played in the first ODI but was left out of the second when Alex Carey returned.
Maxwell will play in the final three T20I series games after missing the first two due to a fractured wrist sustained while bowling in the nets in New Zealand late last month. Dwarshuis has been selected to play in the fourth and fifth games in Queensland after missing the ODI series and the first three T20Is due to a calf injury.
