Jack Wilshere top choice to take Luton job to replace Matt Bloomfield who was dismissed earlier this week.
Jack Wilshere, a former player for Arsenal, is Luton Town’s top pick to succeed him as manager at Kenilworth Road.
The 33-year-old is in the running to succeed Matt Bloomfield, who was fired earlier this week, after having discussions with the Hatters.
Wilshere is on the verge of being hired, but Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens got it to the final two. A contract hasn’t been finalised yet.
His final position was as Norwich’s temporary coach at the close of the previous campaign, where he took over for the final two games after Johannes Hoff Thorup was fired.
Before Tom Cleverley took over, Wilshere was connected to Plymouth Argyle and was passed over for the permanent position when the Canaries hired Liam Manning.
Back-to-back relegations aside, Luton has had a dismal start to the 2025–26 season, dropping five of their first 11 games to drop to 11th place in League One.
Before joining Norwich, Wilshere coached Arsenal’s under-18 team. In the summer, he was a candidate for the Gunners’ Under-21 position but withdrew.
Prior to stints at West Ham and Bournemouth, the former midfielder made 197 matches for Arsenal and won 34 caps for England.
