Jahanara Alam finds her way back into the Bangladesh ODI squad along with her fellow colleague Sharmin Akhter.
Jahanara Alam along with Sharmin Akhter have been recalled to their ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Ireland.
Sharmin last participated in international cricket in the July 2023 home ODI series against India, and he had missed the T20 World Cup earlier this year. Since making her debut for her country in 2011, the 28-year-old has participated in 35 ODIs and 16 T20Is. Jahanara is one of three players from Bangladesh who have participated in at least 50 women’s ODI matches. In 52 games, Jahanara has taken 48 wickets at an average of 30.39.
While left-arm spinner Sanjida has participated in 18 WT20Is, middle-order batswoman Taj made her debut for her country in the Women’s T20 World Cup in October.
Bangladesh is playing its first ODI series since the April series against Australia. The selectors have left out Nishita Akter, Sumaiya Akter, Disha Biswas, and Farzana Akter from that team.
Bangladesh has defeated Ireland in three of the last six ODIs. In 2016, they prevailed in the final bilateral series between the two teams. On November 27 and 30, as well as December 2, they will play the three ODIs in Dhaka this time. Additionally, on December 5, 7, and 9, they will play three Twenty20 Internationals at Sylhet.
Bangladesh is playing its first international series since the October Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
