Jarrad Branthwaite suffers another injury setback in training and is set for another absence on the sidelines.
Jarrad Branthwaite has suffered another injury while in training for Everton. The influential defender could be out after the international break. He recently made his first appearance for Everton after groin surgery in the summer.
Everton’s much-improved defensive performance helped them win their first Premier League game of the season against Crystal Palace, thanks in part to his comeback. The 22-year-old, nevertheless, is a severe doubt for Saturday’s home match against Newcastle after it’s thought that he sustained a thigh injury this week.
Despite the fact that Branthwaite is still being evaluated, Dyche did not bring up the possibility of his absence during his pregame press conference on Thursday. However, following a prolonged period of absence, the Everton boss is reluctant to take a chance on the center-half. Branthwaite might not return until the 19 October trip to Ipswich.
Due to a muscular issue he sustained during his long-term recovery program, Dele’s attempts to sign a new deal with Everton have been hindered.
Since his contract ended at the end of the previous season, the 28-year-old has continued to train at Everton while he heals from surgery for a persistent groin issue. Before choosing to extend an offer to the free agent, Sean Dyche plans to evaluate Dele’s fitness in a number of private games. However, the Everton boss acknowledges that, in the wake of yet another setback to his recovery, there is still no timeline for the former Tottenham playmaker’s availability.
“He’s just making sure he’s right at the moment,” said Dyche. “He’s had a little bit of a slip back with his fitness so he is just in that total recovery period. It’s slightly different ([to the groin issue)]. It’s a slight muscle strain, nothing too heavy, but because it’s been so long it is about getting him back into that fully fit zone.”
Dele had a hip injury during his first season on loan at Besiktas and hasn’t played in a competitive match in twenty months. He has only started once in his two seasons at Everton. Although the athlete has gone through a “very challenging” phase with his fitness, Dyche maintains that the player is positive.
The Everton manager added: “It’s not easy but unfortunately it is part of being a professional footballer. Not for all, of course. I had a year out with my back, played one game and then did my back again the next week. You work for six or seven months and then you’re out for another seven months. It’s hard. Your body is the tool you need and if it breaks down it is really difficult but you find your way through it.”
