BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has introduced a major boost in Indian Premier League (IPL) match fees, announcing a substantial increase to incentivize players.
The new scheme aims to reward players, particularly non-contracted and uncapped ones, for playing all league matches.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shah revealed that from IPL 2025, players will earn INR 7.5 lakhs per game. “In a historic move to celebrate consistency and outstanding performances in the IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers!” his post read.
This new structure allows a player who plays all 14 league matches to earn an additional INR 1.05 crore, on top of their contracted amount.
“Players completing all league matches in a season will pocket INR 1.05 crore in addition to their contracted sum,” the post added.
To implement this, each of the 10 franchises will allocate INR 12.60 crores in match fees for the season. Shah further noted, “Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This marks a new era for IPL and its players!”
As IPL teams prepare for a major revamp ahead of the 2025 season, a mega-auction is expected in November 2024.
However, details on the number of player retentions are yet to be finalized, with the IPL Governing Council expected to clarify in the upcoming meeting.
