Jermaine Jenas talks about personal changes ahead of TV return to broadcasting after his suspension way back in August.
Jermaine Jenas insists he has taken responsibility for the conduct that led to his dismissal from the BBC.
Following the revelation of messages he sent to two women, the former Tottenham and England player was fired from his positions on Match of the Day and The One Show in August of last year. Jenas expressed regret for what he did and will be back in the spotlight on Sunday when Aston Villa and Spurs play in the FA Cup fourth round on TalkSport. It is known that this has worried several radio station employees, who are reluctant to collaborate with Jenas.
In an interview broadcast by TalkSport, the 41-year-old accepted his conduct was inappropriate, and said: “The biggest thing in this whole situation is about taking responsibility and that has been at the forefront of my mind. You need to take responsibility for your actions. There’s a reason why you’re in this position, and there’s a reason why this has happened.
“Once you kind of accept those things, then you can work on yourself and you can work on the other things, and you can work on your family and work towards a brighter future.
“I’m very grateful to TalkSport for giving me the opportunity to come talk to yourself and get back to doing what I love most. This is about me looking inwards, making some improvements and coming back a better person.”
Supporting his wife and kids was Jenas’ top priority, saying the last six months had been “extremely tough for myself and my family.”
