[Saba Sports News] Australia wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis scripted history on Thursday, becoming Australia’s joint-fastest century-maker in men’s T20Is.
Soon after lifting the ODI World Cup trophy, Australia was in no mood to stop in the opening match of the T20I series against India, scheduled at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
Inglis, who came in to bat at number three, took the attack to India right from the very first ball he faced, hitting a boundary in Ravi Bishnoi’s over.
As the innings went, his confidence skyrocketed, resulting in him showing his range and hitting prowess. It eventually panned out in the joint-fastest century by an Aussie batsman in T20Is.
Inglish smashed a hundred in 47 balls, equalling the record of former Australia captain Aaron Finch, who had brought the three-figure milestone in the same number of deliveries versus England in 2013.
Inglis’ ton propelled Australia to a record T20I total of 208/3 in Visakhapatnam. Apart from Inglis, Steve Smith too fared well as he scored a fifty while opening the innings.
