Diogo Jota’s sons to join mascots at Anfield for Liverpool v Wolves.
When Liverpool plays Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, Diogo Jota’s two boys will be among the mascots at Anfield, the team has confirmed.
The Portuguese forward, who was a member of both Premier League teams, and his younger brother perished in a car accident in northwest Spain in July. He was twenty-eight.
In 2017, Jota signed a permanent contract with Wolves after joining on loan from Atletico Madrid. Then, in 2020, he signed a five-year contract with Liverpool, where he won the league title the previous year.
The game on Saturday is the first time Wolves and Liverpool have faced off since Jota’s passing.
Rute Cardoso, Jota’s wife, and her two boys, Dinis and Duarte, attended both Liverpool and Wolves’ August Premier League home opening. Only two weeks prior to his passing, Cardoso had wed the football player.
After his passing, Liverpool also permanently retired his shirt number, 20.
