[Saba Sports News] Jrue Holiday expressed understanding about the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to trade him in the Damian Lillard deal, though he wished for one aspect to be handled differently. Now a player for the Boston Celtics, Holiday revealed on Wednesday his preference for a prior notification from the Bucks about his potential trade.
Holiday commented, as reported by Tim Bontemps of ESPN, that he harbors no resentment towards the Bucks, acknowledging they achieved their objectives. However, he mentioned that a prior alert about the trade would have been appreciated. Despite this, he feels positively about his current position, seeing it as an opportunity to compete at a high level in the East and potentially the entire league.
“I think that they got what they wanted, so I can’t be mad at that,” Holiday said. “A warning would’ve been cool. But other than that, I’m in the best place that I can be to compete against them, which is for the top team in the East and, hopefully, the top team in the league.”
The trade’s timing seemed particularly sudden for Holiday, as his remarks from that period suggest he was caught off guard by the possibility of being traded, especially with the Lillard deal emerging unexpectedly. The Bucks, on their part, might justify their discretion during the negotiation process.
In his new role with the Celtics, Holiday is making a significant contribution, averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
