Kohli moves up to No. 4 in ODIs, Ayub regains top spot among T20I allrounders.
While Pakistani all-rounder Saim Ayub reclaimed the top spot among T20I all-rounders, Indian batter Virat Kohli has risen one notch to fourth place in the ICC rankings for ODI batters.
In Ranchi, where India defeated South Africa by 17 runs, Kohli achieved his 52nd ODI century. He scored 135 off 120 balls and shared 136 runs with the top-ranked ODI batsman, Rohit Sharma. With 751 rating points, Kohli is currently just 32 points behind Rohit’s 783.
In October, Ayub was the leading all-rounder until Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe passed him. But Ayub’s outstanding effort in the tri-series final in Rawalpindi, where Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets (Zimbabwe being the third team), helped him retake the top rank. He scored 36 off 33 to set the pace for Pakistan’s chase after dismissing Sri Lanka’s leading scorer, Kamil Mishara, to return figures of 1 for 17 off four overs.
In addition to Ayub, India’s Kuldeep Yadav rose to sixth place in the ODI bowlers’ rankings, while Pakistan’s legspinner Abrar Ahmed, led by Varun Chakravarthy, rose to fourth in the T20I bowlers’ rankings.
After South Africa swept India in the two-Test series, Marco Jansen also rose in the Test rankings. Jansen dropped to fifth place in the Test bowlers’ charts after taking 12 wickets in two games, while he moved up four spots to second place in the Test all-rounders rankings. His team-mate Simon Harmer, who took 17 wickets in the series, vaulted up 13 places to be the 11th-ranked bowler.
