Kristian Clarke earns maiden ODI call-up for New Zealand as Matt Henry has been sent home due to side stiffness.
Prior to Sunday’s (November 2) third and final ODI against England in Wellington, New Zealand has called up Kristian Clarke of Northern Districts for his first ODI, taking Matt Henry’s place due to injury.
After failing to recover from a left calf strain sustained during the second ODI in Hamilton, Henry has been ruled out. On Friday, October 31, he will return to Christchurch.
After scoring his first List A hundred and taking 3 for 57 in the Ford Trophy on Thursday to help Northern Districts defeat Central Stags, the 24-year-old Clarke enters the national team setup on the strength of his domestic form.
Clarke displayed his all-around skills while representing New Zealand in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. He has played for Noethern Districts in all formats since 2022, and earlier this year, he travelled to Bangladesh with the New Zealand A team.
