[Saba Sports News] According to reports from Spanish
media, the La Liga Referees Technical Committee is contemplating the idea of
facilitating communication between on-field referees and VAR officials. The aim
is to enhance transparency in decision-making during matches, which often
sparks controversy among fans. Prior to the introduction of VAR technology,
referees occasionally made errors in their decisions, leading to chaotic
situations on the field. However, the use of VAR has brought about different
challenges, such as mistakes in screen analysis, video playback delays, and the
interpretation of offside lines. By making referee conversations audible, there
is a potential to promote understanding of penalty standards and increase
transparency. However, it may also lead to disagreements and disputes regarding
the interpretation of penalties, thus intensifying controversies. Currently,
this measure has not been officially implemented, and La Liga has not made a
formal request to FIFA regarding this matter.
