Liam Dawson returns to England squad for fourth Test against india.
With his inclusion in the England squad for the fourth Test match against India, which begins on July 23 at Old Trafford, spin-bowling all-rounder Liam Dawson is set to make his Test comeback after eight years.
After offspinner Shoaib Bashir was unable to play the rest of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy due to a fractured finger on his left hand, Dawson, who hasn’t played a Test since July 2017, steps in.
Despite only playing three Test matches, Dawson has been a reliable player for Hampshire in recent years, winning PCA Player-of-the-Year in 2023 and 2024. He participated in all nine of Hampshire’s games in the most recent County Championship, taking 21 wickets at an average of 40.04.
“Liam Dawson deserves his call-up. He has been in outstanding form in the County Championship and consistently puts in strong performances for Hampshire,” national selector Luke Wright said in an ECB statement.
