Mainoo looking for an exit from Man United after limited chances and after being sidelined by Ruben Amorim.
After being pushed to the sidelines by Ruben Amorim, Kobbie Mainoo wishes to leave Manchester United. When the midfielder returned from injury last December, he was dropped from first choice to substitute and hasn’t played a minute in the team’s two games this season.
Although there might not be many appealing suitors for the 20-year-old player thus late in a window that ends on Monday, United would accept a fair price.
Less than two months after scoring for United in their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, Mainoo started England’s loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final last summer. However, Amorim has halted his career, claiming that Mainoo is vying for a spot with captain Bruno Fernandes.
Mainoo has not been given a position in the head coach’s 3-4-3. Amorim has not been impressed enough with the player’s future performances and feels the academy graduate lacks the qualities to be a first choice in central midfield.
Other United players are also keeping an eye on leaving, in addition to Mainoo. Among those who have been urged to find a new club is Alejandro Garnacho. Chelsea reached out to him again over the weekend, but their valuations are not in line. The Club World Cup winners value him at £35 million, while United wants £50 million.
Noni Madueke’s £52 million departure from Chelsea to Arsenal and Anthony Elanga’s £55 million summer transfer from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle are major factors in United’s appraisal of Garnacho.
