[Saba Sports News] Recently, the Badminton Association of Malaysia
(BAM) has announced a new development regarding the admission regulations of
the Malaysia Badminton Training Academy. Starting from next year, the academy
will only accept players aged 16 and above, while the current 14-15-year-old
players at the academy will be allowed to stay. This announcement has sparked
discussions among the media, with some expressing concerns about the lack of
focus on young players. However, the Malaysia Badminton Training Academy holds
a different perspective. They believe that allowing players under the age of 15
to be with their families can better nurture their maturity and psychological
well-being. Furthermore, data suggests that players who join the academy at the
age of 16 do not have a disadvantage compared to younger academy players.
In my opinion, with the change in admission regulations for the Malaysia
Badminton Training Academy, it would be beneficial to organize more tournaments
for players under the age of 16. This would help discover more future stars and
prepare the academy for selecting elite players.
