[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports,
Lionel Messi’s six jerseys worn during the World Cup have been put up for
auction at Sotheby’s in New York, with an estimated minimum bid of at least £8
million. The report states that the six jerseys Messi wore during the Qatar
World Cup will be auctioned as a set at Sotheby’s, with a portion of the
proceeds being donated to charity. These six jerseys are said to originate from
the finals, semi-finals, quarter-finals, and the first half of the Round of 16
matches, as well as two matches from the group stage. The estimated minimum bid
for the set is at least £8 million, which could potentially set a new record
for sports memorabilia collections. Currently, the record for sports
memorabilia is held by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls jersey worn in the first
game of the 1998 NBA Finals, from his famous “Last Dance” season,
which was sold at Sotheby’s in September of last year for £8.1 million.
