Milan and Como to play their Serie A game at Perth as Italian FA gives approval for February fixture to move.
Milan and Como set to play in Australia.
With preparations to shift the match to Australia moving forward, Milan’s home match against Como in the 2025–26 Serie A season may become the first significant European domestic league match played outside of its home nation.
The game will take place in Perth, around 8,500 miles from Milan, in February of next year, according to approval from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). After authorities rejected earlier efforts to hold local league matches overseas, the plan takes European football to new heights.
Because the opening ceremony for the 2026 Games will be held at Milan’s San Siro stadium on February 6, the weekend the game is scheduled to take place, the venue change was brought on by the logistics of the Winter Olympic Games.
“The federal council gave a positive opinion to the Lega Serie A request to play Milan-Como in Perth,” the FIGC said in a statement. “This brings closer what would be a historic trip abroad for a Serie A match.”
The Supercoppa Italiana has been played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the past three seasons. A year later, in the first four-team edition, Inter defended their title after Milan lost to them in a one-off game in January 2023. Milan defeated Inter 3-2 in the January final to win the previous tournament.
