Minority owner Ratcliffe not concerned by Amorim’s statements after the latter called his side ‘maybe the worst’ in club’s history.
Minority owner Ratcliffe confident United players not adversely affected by Amorim comments.
Before heading to Fulham for the late game on Sunday, United is now in 13th place in the Premier League with 26 points and a -5 goal differential. According to Ratcliffe, the team is aware of Amorim’s intense drive for victory and his capacity for enthusiasm, and they anticipate that his outburst will be forgotten quickly.
With a thrilling late victory over Rangers at home on Thursday, United took one step closer to automatic qualification for the Europa League’s round of 16. In the past, Amorim has discussed how skipping the playoffs would give him a week off to train with the players and implement his strategies.
After last Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford, Amorim said: “In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”
On Wednesday the Portuguese expressed regret over his comments and said: “I was talking more for myself than my players because I was talking that [I am] a coach who starts out losing seven games in the first [15]. So it’s more for me.”
