[Saba Sports News] In the final of the Asia Cup 2023, India completely dominated Sri Lanka, bundling them out for a total of 50, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional bowling spell.
The Hyderabad-born pacer took six wickets in seven overs in the fixture. Siraj finished his spell with bowling figures of 7-1-21-6. The 29-year-old broke multiple records with his outstanding performance against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Siraj recorded the joint-fastest five-wicket haul in ODI cricket history, taking just 16 balls to equal the record set by the former Sri Lanka fast-bowler Chaminda Vaas, who also took five wickets in 16 balls against Bangladesh in 2003.
Moreover, Siraj also completed his 50th ODI wicket in 29 ODIs. He took 1002 balls to reach this milestone, making it the second quickest for any bowler in the history of ODIs. Ajantha Mendis took 847 balls to complete 50 ODI wickets and tops the chart.
Furthermore, Siraj claimed four scalps in a single over. This marks one of the firsts in Indian cricket as none of their bowlers have taken four wickets in a single over in internationals.
In the run-chase, it was India again all over as they crossed the line in the sixth seventh over, winning the clash by 10 wickets.
