Mujeeb makes his return to the side for Zimbabwe series for the first time since his finger injury that he suffered in June.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who has not played for Afghanistan since June because of injury, has made a return to their white-ball squad against Zimbabwe.
After missing five months due to a sprain to his right phalanx (hand). Mujeeb made his competitive cricket comeback on November 21 at the Abu Dhabi T10.
For Afghanistan’s T20I tour of Zimbabwe, top-order batsman Zubaid Akbari received his first call-up. Darwish Rasooli also made his comeback to the shortest format.
The top-order batsman Ibrahim Zadran will continue to be unavailable to Afghanistan as he recovers from recent ankle surgery in England.
With 137 runs in four games with a strike rate of 131.73, Akbari finished as the second-highest run scorer for Afghanistan A. In all, he was the fourth-highest overall in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 event. Afghanistan A won their first Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 in Oman earlier this year under Rasooli. He has played seven Twenty20 Internationals. The UAE was Rasooli’s last Twenty20 International opponent in Sharjah in January of this year.
Riaz Hassan was excluded from the ODI team, and Noor Ahmad was only included in the T20I squad.
ACB interim chief selector Ahmad Shah said. “It’s a great feeling to see our frontline spinner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, recover from his injury and be available for selection. He is an essential member of our squad, and we hope he continues to shine brightly for Afghanistan. Additionally, Zubaid Akbari and Darwish Rasooli have been consistent performers. This not only in domestic cricket but also in the recently concluded ACC Emerging Teams Cup. It is where Afghanistan claimed the title. We have included both players in the T20I squad and wish them the very best for the upcoming series.”
