Mustafizur latest to withdraw from Bangladesh squad as the pacer suffered from a thumb injury playing in the IPL.
Mustafizur latest player to withdraw from playing the Pakistan series.
Due to a thumb injury sustained during the 2025 Indian Premier League, Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman will not be participating in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series in Pakistan. He has been replaced by Khaled Ahmed.
On May 24, Mustafizur was playing for the Delhi Capitals against the Punjab Kings when he was struck on the left hand while trying to get caught and bowled by Josh Inglis. The damage may take up to three weeks to heal, according to Bangladeshi physiotherapist Delowar Hossain.
“Mustafizur suffered a clip fracture on his left thumb while playing his last match of the Indian Premier League yesterday,” Hossain said. “This injury requires a period of rest and rehabilitation. As per our current assessment, he will be unavailable for selection for the next two to three weeks. We will conduct a follow-up evaluation after two weeks to monitor his recovery progress.”
The third player to withdraw from the series, which starts in Lahore on May 28, is Mustafizur. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took Soumya Sarkar’s place after he suffered a back injury, and Nahid Rana withdrew for personal reasons.
Mustafizur’s substitute Khaled has taken 77 wickets at a rate of 21.74 in all forms of competitive cricket during the 2024–25 season. During the most recent BPL season, he claimed 20 wickets at an average of 21.55.
