Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain emphasized on focusing on their own strengths rather than worrying about India ahead of the two-match Test series starting in Chennai on September 19. Despite India being the favorites, Bangladesh, coming off a historic series win against Pakistan, is prepared for a tough fight.
“It’s important to focus on our strengths. I believe we can play good cricket here, and our goal is to win,” Najmul said, adding that they won’t think about the result until the final day. He hopes a positive performance will lead to more Test matches for Bangladesh in the future.
Najmul acknowledged the challenge of adjusting to the SG ball but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to adapt. He praised the balance of the spin and pace attack, stating, “We’ll adapt to the conditions as needed.”
The captain also praised Nahid Rana, Bangladesh’s new pace sensation, but highlighted that the entire pace unit performed well in Pakistan. Najmul said, “He’s special, but it’s about the whole bowling group.”
Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined the squad after playing a county match for Surrey in the UK.
