Naseem Shah to remain with Pakistan squad despite attack at family residence.
Despite an attack on his Lower Dir home, Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah will remain in the team for the forthcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. No one at his family’s home was reportedly hurt when unknown attackers opened fire on the gate.
After firing at the gate, the attackers quickly left, and police launched an inquiry. The attack happened early on Monday morning, and it is unknown who was at the house at the time. According to Dawn, Naseem’s father met with a police official who promised to swiftly bring the attackers to justice.
Naseem’s intentions and timetable for the series are unaffected by the event; the fast bowler will remain with the team and is anticipated to participate fully in the series as needed. Tuesday marks the start of a three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Later this month, Zimbabwe will play in a T20I tri-series. Naseem is a member of both teams.
The presence of Naseem’s two younger brothers, who are also professional cricket players, in the house is unknown. Last week, Hunain, who struck the game-winning runs for Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League final, participated in a Quaid-e-Azam trophy match. In a ten-wicket victory, he took six wickets and made a half-century.
Ubaid, a PSL player for Multan Sultans, most recently represented his Quaid-e-Azam Trophy team, Lahore Whites, at the end of last month.
