Netherlands set to tour Bangladesh for a short T20 series that will take place just before the Asia Cup begins.
Netherlands to tour Bangladesh for three T20Is before Asia Cup.
When the Netherlands travel to Bangladesh later this month for three Twenty20 Internationals, they will play their first bilateral series there. In preparation for the Asia Cup, which starts on September 9, the series will provide Bangladesh with some competitive cricket.
After landing in Dhaka on August 26, the Netherlands will go to Sylhet, where they will train for three days prior to the August 30 first Twenty20 International. On September 1 and 3, Sylhet will host the second and third Twenty20 Internationals. At 6:00 p.m. local time, all three games will get underway.
After India postponed their August 17–31 tour to Bangladesh, which was supposed to include three ODIs and three T20Is, the BCB organised the Netherlands series. Before the Asia Cup, Bangladesh had been without international cricket for a month. At first, the BCB and the Nepal board were also in communication.
The Netherlands’ only previous visit to Bangladesh was during the 2014 T20 World Cup, where they defeated Ireland in a thrilling match to go to the main stage.
There have only been five Twenty20 Internationals between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, and Bangladesh has won four of them. Their sole bilateral series against Bangladesh prior to the forthcoming tour was a pair of Twenty20 Internationals staged by the Netherlands in 2012.
