New entrant in the Orange Cap race makes things interesting as Priyansh Arya storms his way into the reckoning.
Priyansh Arya is the new entrant as he moves into top ten on IPL 2025 Orange Cap table after KKR vs PBKS.
In Kolkata, the IPL 2025 saw its first failure on Saturday night. There was no significant shift at the top of the Orange and Purple Cap standings, but there was some movement just below the first few names due to the performances of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs. Punjab Kings (PBKS) match.
With his 69 in 35 balls, Priyansh Arya, who is playing in his first IPL season and scoring steadily and quickly at the top of the order for PBKS, became the tenth batter to reach 300 runs this season, bringing his total to 323 from nine innings. He was then ranked No. 9. Despite having the same number of runs, KL Rahul is ranked No. 10 due to his lower strike rate.
With his season-best 83 in 49 balls, Prabhsimran Singh outperformed his opening partner and moved up to 12th place with 292 runs, just behind Shubman Gill’s 305.
However, what might occur on Sunday is more significant than what occurred on Saturday. Later in the day, the Delhi Capitals (DC) play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), while the Mumbai Indians (MI) play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Thus, all of the following players will be playing: Suryakumar Yadav (No. 4 with 373 runs), Nicholas Pooran (No. 3 with 377 runs), Aiden Markram (No. 8 with 326 runs), Mitchell Marsh (No. 7 with 344 runs), Virat Kohli (No. 2 with 392 runs), and KL Rahul (No. 10 with 323 runs). A couple of them playing well together, together with one or two players failing, may send the Orange Cap table into a frenzy. And the table-topper, B Sai Sudharsan, will know whether he still has the cap or whether he needs to earn it back when he plays for Gujarat Titans (GT) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday.
With Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur (both on 12 wickets) in MI vs. LSG and Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya (12 apiece) and Mitchell Starc (11 wickets) in DC vs. RCB, the Purple Cap table may also see changes after Sunday, similar to what happened with the Orange Cap scrap.
