Nicolas Jackson forced to return to Chelsea after Bayern pull out of deal.
After Bayern Munich cancelled their attempt to resurrect a deal to sign the striker on loan from Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson is left feeling dissatisfied. Jackson is expected to return to London, although it is said that he is unhappy with the way things have turned out. It might be difficult for Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, to cheer up the forward when he returns to the team following the international break.
After Bayern agreed to a loan with a buyout option for €65 million (£56 million), Jackson was allowed to go to Munich on Saturday, perhaps preparing him for a new challenge. Chelsea, however, informed the German team that they would not allow the transfer to proceed.
Delap is anticipated to miss at least eight weeks of action following a second scan this week, though it is hoped that the damage is not serious enough to necessitate surgery.
Given his team’s busy schedule over the next two months, Maresca is hesitant to move forward with just one healthy attacker. At first, though, Jackson ignored Chelsea’s request that he return to London on Saturday afternoon. The Senegal international stayed in Bavaria with his emissaries, who worked with Bayern for a large portion of Sunday in an attempt to reach an agreement.
However, the Bundesliga winners left the negotiations over Jackson yesterday night because Chelsea was only willing to entertain a permanent contract. Bayern, who spent heavily 12 months ago, only wanted a loan and are moving on to other targets.
