[Saba Sports News] The 2023 ODI World Cup has been a stage for record-breaking performances, notably Virat Kohli surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries. Kohli achieved his 50th ODI hundred against New Zealand in the semi-finals at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, surpassing Tendulkar’s tally of 49.
Tendulkar, who has always expressed his desire for his records to be broken by fellow Indians, witnessed this historic moment firsthand at the Wankhede. As Kohli reached his milestone, he paid homage to Tendulkar, who applauded from the stands.
In a symbolic gesture ahead of the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Tendulkar presented Kohli with his iconic No. 10 jersey, last worn in his final ODI.
Both legends were part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team, and Tendulkar will be present to support the Indian team in their bid to overcome Australia, the five-time champions, in what is anticipated to be a memorable final.
