[Saba Sports News] The ODI World Cup 2023 has ignited cricket fever across India, and the prestigious Eden Gardens in Kolkata is set to play a pivotal role in this tournament.
Scheduled to host its first game on October 28, where Bangladesh will face the Netherlands, the stadium has undergone significant renovations in preparation. Notably, Eden Gardens will also host the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023, and several areas within the stadium, including the clubhouse, conference room, dressing room, media center, main hall, and historic photo gallery, have received a fresh makeover.

The historic photo gallery now features a dedicated wall honoring former players and umpires associated with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and another wall commemorating former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
CAB President Snehasish Ganguly expressed his excitement about hosting five World Cup matches, including the semi-final, at the iconic venue, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He highlighted the high-profile matchups, including Bangladesh vs. Pakistan and England vs. Pakistan, and emphasized the challenges and prestige associated with hosting these games.
The extensive renovations have been in the planning stages for over a year, with careful attention to design details. Eden Gardens aims to create a unique and distinctive atmosphere for this international event, showcasing its renowned status.
Snehasish Ganguly also noted the exceptional quality of the stadium’s corporate box, ranking it among the best in the country.
“We have been planning this for more than one year. We worked really hard on the design. World Cup is an international event and everyone wants their stadium to look unique and different. Eden Garden is different because it’s a renowned stadium. Our corporate box in the stadium is one of the best in the country,” shared Ganguly.
