During the clash, Rohit Sharma and his team were seen wearing black armbands as a mark of respect for India’s legendary spin bowler and former captain, Bishan Singh Bedi, who passed away on October 23 at the age of 77.
Bedi, considered one of India’s greatest left-arm spinners, played 67 Test matches and took 266 Test wickets during his international career. He also captained the national team in 22 Test matches.
Team India, the most consistent team in the ODI World Cup, has won all five of their previous matches. They aimed to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
In the match against England, they were asked to bat first, marking the first time in the tournament that they had the opportunity to set a target, as they had previously chased in all their games.
