Omar Marmoush edging ever so close to Man City move as Frankfurt slap €60m proce tag on the Egypt international.
Omar Marmoush to Manchester City is gathering steam as the Premier League Champions are considering testing Eintracht Frankfurt’s resolve to keep their highly rated forward.
Frankfurt’s official position is that Marmoush is not for sale, but it is believed that the Bundesliga third-place team might accept an offer of at least €60 million (£50 million) for the 25-year-old Egyptian, who has contributed 12 assists and 18 goals in all competitions this season.
Erling Haaland’s goal-scoring load would be lessened by Marmoush, a No. 9 who can either play wide or as a No. 10. Despite not replacing the forward, City sold Julián Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in the summer for a club record £82 million.
Khusanov is also admired by Pep Guardiola, and although a possible transfer is not believed to be very far along, the 20-year-old did not show up for Lens’s Friday training. Following injuries to Nathan Aké, Rúben Dias, and John Stones during the current campaign, Guardiola is looking to bolster his defensive options.
Palmeiras and City are negotiating a deal for Reis, who turns 19 on Sunday, and City is anticipated to increase their interest in the player. The Brazil Under-17s centre-back, in contrast to Khusanov, might be a long-term addition.
When asked on Friday about signings this month, Guardiola said: “Don’t ask me. I don’t like the transfer window much but with the situation this season with many many injuries we have to try to do it because that’s what the situation is.” Of Marmoush specifically, he said: “He’s a player from another club. I’m not going to answer. I was clear.”
